In terms of mastering aviation technology, Indonesia has long been known as the only country in Southeast Asia to produce and develop its own aircrafts. However, in terms of marketing its home-made aircraft, we have to admit that we are lagging behind Brazil, who develops EMBRAER and markets it worldwide.
These recent years, however, some countries had turned their head to Indonesia’s aircraft products, namely Malaysia, Pakistan, UAE, Philippines, and South Korea, and some other. CN-235 (pictured below) is likely to hit broader market in years to come as now more people become aware of its reliability. Malaysia will add another four in addition to its existing CN-235 in its airforce fleet (source).
You must be wondering, with all this capacity and technology, why hasn’t Indonesia developed a jet fighter?
Well, according to one reliable source, Indonesia will soon develop its own jet fighter with South Korea. Here’s the points :
1. Initial cost will be $8 billion, and is likely to be funded jointly by both countries
2. It is A T-50 Golden Eagle jet fighter, and according to Indonesia’s Aircraft Industri (PT DI), Indonesia has all capacity to do the development as well as production.
3. The production is likely to be started this year, or next year at latest.
I am sooooo mad happy
